But you'd probably not seen many, if any, lacrosse shirts intended for the masses up to that point. At least not until Brine went to Graph-Tex in about 1985, then still a small start-up business in Cortland, N.Y., and had the apparel and design company dial up a concept that would turn into what is considered one of the first, if not the very first, "lacrosse shirt" to hit store shelves.
We toured the Graph-Tex facilities in Cortland this week and learned more about the company's new website — GTXLacrosse.com — and plans for the future. Along the way, we got a close look at the Brine 'Rising Sun' lacrosse tee, which was designed by Graph-Tex owner and founder Brent Riley. When we posted it last night on Instagram, it prompted a nice response, including some folks who say they'd rock the hell out of this throwback shirt. Take a look below, and tell us what you think. We're hoping to see it brought back to life. Maybe — just maybe — your input/feedback could help move the meter.

The Sailin' Shoe lacrosse club, started more than 25 years ago by Jake Reed and Jeff Long, is a staple at the Lake Placid Summit Lacrosse Classic and has been since the tournament started way back in 1990.
For years, the team would bring a huge group of people to Lake Placid, as many of the game's top players would join the Sailin' Shoe and bring their families up to the Adirondacks for the annual event. The team's tradition lives on, and this summer, the team returned itself to the top of the lacrosse world by winning the Grand Masters 1 division at the Summit Classic with a 7-3 victory over the Sloe-Moes. Former Cornell netminder Joe Solomon earned MVP honors in the win.
The team was sporting the usual Sailin' Shoe pink, white and navy blue colors, with the threads produced by our buddies at Graph-Tex in Cortland, N.Y. Check the team out below, and be sure to visit our Club Gear section to get a look at a ton of custom club gear, uniforms and apparel. Syracuse assistant coach Lelan Rogers came out of the rhubarb to help the Sailin' Shoe team at the face-off X. Here, he models the Sailin' Shoe uniform, the custom work of our friends at Graph-Tex. He's sporting some
Sailin' Shoe sideline, puttin' out the vibe.

The great John Zulberti, Peter Schaffer, Dan Pratt and Bill Bergen after the win.
Zulberti traditionally rocks the Converse Chuck Taylor All-Stars. This year was no different.
More Sailin' Shoe supporters. Notice the sweet GTX Lacrosse bucket hats.
Congrats to the Sailin' Shoe squad, winners of this year's Grand Masters 1 division at the Lake Placid Summit Lacrosse Classic.

US Lacrosse staff member Emily Gibson is up in Lake Placid this weekend, playing for team Graph-Tex in the elite division of the annual tournament. Gibson, who scored 110 points as a Loyola midfielder, is on that team with several Loyola and Syracuse alums, including Team USA's Katie Rowan... Presumably they're not a bad crew to play with...
She'll be firing off some photos and thoughts as the weekend progresses, giving us a look at the experience of playing in that annual tourney.
Arrival in Lake Placid. I flew into Albany and met Tee Ladouceur ('Cuse '11) and Abby Rehfuss (Loyola '11) for the rest of the trip up. |

Graphtex is in the hunt for the women's elite title, but face a tough challenge on Saturday against a Syracuse/Virginia squad that already has a win over Team STX in the tournament. Emily will hopefully check back tomorrow morning and let us know how things are going as the tourney continues...
With their first lost in five years, Team Graphtex took third place after losing to the eventual champions, Team HLA. Despite the loss Team Graphtex enjoyed their weekend in beautiful Lake Placid, N.Y.
Check out a few photos from the rest of Emily's weekend.
